This is a movie based on what any person feels and would do to attend a concert of their dreams and stopping anything that gets in their way of doing so. It captures what rock n roll culture was seen as in the late 70’s and how the word’s “rock n roll” live up to its name, a true classic. The title of the movie being named after one of their hit songs says it all. If you’re into badass rebellious acts, rule breaking, action packed comedies then this one’s for you.

The way it goes is 4 teenage boys got tickets to see their idols, and all time favorite rock n roll band KISS. One of the four boys, specially the one who held on to the tickets been in a situation where his mother discovers the tickets and from there, you can tell those tickets were history. At that time a lot of religion controversy was going on around KISS music being the devils music, leaving parents disliking the members of the band known as the “Demon”, “Starchild”, “Fox”, and, “Wiz”. That said hearing their tunes backwards at the time was like hearing from the underworld, creating protesters surrounding the concert area trying to shut it down. So the loss of tickets meant one thing to these boys and one thing only meaning doing anything to get them back. That led multiple missions involving fighting, running away, stripping, scamming, and breaking couple laws as you can tell with much more. Whether it was drugging a priest or stripping for money.

Now not only was this movie about attending a KISS concert, but also starred the actual band KISS. That right Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley, and Peter Crisis themselves a.k.a KISS was in this not any phony’s. The movie was actually filmed in the back stage of a concert. Having many scenes be as real as it could get from distracting security to damaging equipment to eventually living up their dream. Even cooler one of the producers was the demon himself; Gene Simmons. A lot of people gave this movie a bad rating and that’s only because this movie isn’t for everyone. The movie is the definition of the phrase, “Sex, Drugs, & Rock n Roll”. Which isn’t everyone’s preference off course but if you like movies based off legendary bands here you go. With a combination of the creativity held in youth and rock n roll tunes you can’t go wrong starting your weekend off with this or even if you’re looking for a Saturday night rental this is the way to go.

Part 2:
To get a good view of what this movie is about I used F.A.J.A. to make my way about describing it. F.A.J.A. being (F)act, (A)nalysis, (J)udgment, (A)ction, I didn’t do it in that exact order , but used F.A.J.A. to the best of my abilities to better organize the piece. I started this piece with explaining what you’re looking forward to with a taste and theme of the movie “Detroit Rock City”. The title was probably enough to give you a gist of the movie, but if it didn’t that’s why I later mentioned some of the events you will come across. So I came in with a slight analysis of how the movie goes into some back round of what the movie was like at the time it took place. This being a movie based of a rock band there are of course many action scenes I’ve mentioned, not all, but some. After I stated facts about the cast and how the movie was shot, I ended it all with what people thought of the movie and saying when it’s the best time to watch it. I did my best to give a general idea of what was going on in the movie, and I know some people see it’s about rock and might loose interest just like that, but its pretty rad overall and leaves you in a feel good mood, which I think is worth watching.
